The Hall of Men will gather at The Ladder this Thursday evening (Feb 11). Bo Bonner will be presenting St. Thomas Aquinas. Thomas is honored as a saint by the Catholic Church and is held to be the model teacher for those studying for the priesthood, and indeed the highest expression of both natural reason and speculative theology. In modern times, under papal directives, the study of his works was long used as a core of the required program of study for those seeking ordination as priests or deacons, as well as for those in religious formation and for other students of the sacred disciplines (philosophy, Catholic theology, church history, liturgy, canon law).
As usual, doors at The Ladder open at 7 pm. Food is served around 7:30 pm. At 8:30 pm we'll prepare for the lecture with the Eighth Day Convocation: hymn, Nicene Creed, patristic and scripture readings, and Lord's Prayer. Then a great lecture followed by good questions, good fellowship, and just possibly a few good smoke rings.
Bring your pipe, have a pint, and make yourself at home among brothers who love Christ, want to follow him well, and seek to renew our culture by being faithful witnesses for our faith.
