We had a great evening with Gene Veith last meeting. And we had a "Great Conversation" last evening on how we should read the creation account in Genesis 1-2. Tomorrow evening, we're going to shift gears and turn to a Civil War hero who was Captain in the Eleventh Kansas Infantry and served Kansas in the U.S. Senate.
We're delighted to have Ken Spurgeon as our presenter. Ken is Executive Director of Lone Chimney Films, the Writer, Producer of the documentary "Touched by Fire: Bleeding Kansas 1854-1861" and Writer, Director of "Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre." He teaches History and Government at Northfield School of the Liberal Arts and recently published the book "A Kansas Soldier at War: The Civil War Letters of Christian and Elise Dubach Isely.”
As usual, doors open at 7 pm and food is served around 7:30 pm. At 8:30 pm we'll prepare for the lecture with the Eighth Day Convocation: hymn, patristic and scripture readings, the Nicene Creed and the Lord's Prayer. Then a great lecture followed by good questions and discussion, good fellowship, and just possibly a few good smoke rings.
We hope to see you tomorrow, April 14!
