Rachmaninov, Living the Mystery & Reviving the Imagination

Feast of St Mary of Egypt

Resurrection_Square.jpgIN ADDITION to our normal April activities (Hall of Men on April 14 and Sisters of Sophia on April 19), there are a few events coming up we'd like you to know about:

1. This weekend, you can experience the sound and spirit of the greatest masterpiece of Russian Orthodox church music. The Wichita Chamber Chorale will be performing Sergei Rachmaninov's legendary All Night Vigil (Vespers), which premiered just over 100 years ago. Performances will be April 2, 7:30 pm at Plymouth Congregational Church and April 3, 3 pm at St George Orthodox Christian Cathedral. Click here for more information and tickets.

2. On April 17, Father Stephen Freeman, noted blogger at "Glory be to God for all Things," will offer a brief talk: "Living the Mystery: The Poetry of Belief." Presentation will begin at 6pm at St George Orthodox Christian Cathedral.

3.Our friends at the Catholic Spiritual Life Center here in Wichita, KS have organized a conference on Culture and the Imagination on April 22-23. The keynote speaker is Anthony Esolen, author of many books (one of our favorites is Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child) and translator of Dante's Divine Comedy.
