A local FELLOWSHIP HALL where the MEN break BREAD, tap the KEG, and toast their HEROES.
On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, men gather at The Ladder to engage in a vigorous, non-“lowest-common-denominator” type of ecumenism among the three Great Christian Traditions. We aren’t afraid to put on our theological boxing gloves to spar for a minute, and to take them off for a shared pint the next. If you haven’t seen a Catholic listen to the life story of John Wesley; if you haven’t watched a Protestant learn about Evagrius of Pontus; and if you haven’t seen Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant men sit around a table together and talk theology until midnight . . . then you need to come to the Hall of Men. Doors at The Ladder open at 7 pm, food is served at 7:30, and the Eighth Day Convocation (Hymn, Nicene Creed, Patristic Reading, Scripture and Lord’s Prayer) starts at 8:30, followed by the lecture.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

We hope to eventually create a gallery of heroes.
Audio archives are slowly being made available for Eighth Day Members.
The Hall of Men will gather this Thursday, December 13, for the final time in the year of our Lord 2018.
Our good friend and fellow Eighth Day Member Tim Rives will present James Malone (22 November 1874 – 3 November 1963). Malone was a Kansas state legislator, lawyer, and prominent Catholic who, in 1954, was bestowed the title of Knight of St. Gregory, which is the highest honor given by the Catholic Church to a layman.
This presentation will be based on the James Malone papers at the Kansas Historical Society, more specifically on the correspondence both written and received by James Malone and newspaper clippings collected by him, dated 1922 to 1926, which document the reaction of members of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic clergy and laity to Ku Klux Klan machinations within the state of Kansas to discredit the Catholic Church, as well as Catholic sentiment regarding the effort started in the early 1920s by Kansas Governor Henry J. Allen to drive the Klan from the state through legal maneuvering and processes.
As usual, doors will open at The Ladder at 7 pm and food will be served around 7:30 pm. At 8:30 pm we'll prepare for the lecture with the Eighth Day Convocation: hymn, patristic and scripture readings, the Nicene Creed, and the Lord's Prayer. Then a short lecture followed by questions, discussion, and fellowship.
We hope you can join us at The Hall.
