We are less than a month a way from the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. In light of this historic moment, we've got two things planned.
First, this month at the Hall of Men, Josh Black, Pastor of First Evangelical Free Church, will present John Calvin (Oct 12) and then Gene Veith, Provost and Professor of Literature Emeritus at Patrick Henry College and Director of the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary, will present Martin Luther (Oct 19).
Second, we're in the process of organizing a new summer conference - Florovsky Week. The theme for the first one in 2018 is "The Reformation: An Ecumenical Retrospective."
We hope a good mix of Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants will be at the Hall of Men this month and at the Florovsky Week in the summer of 2018.
As usual, doors will open at The Ladder for the Hall of Men at 7 pm this Thursday and food will be served around 7:30 pm. At 8:30 pm we'll prepare for the lecture with the Eighth Day Convocation: hymn, patristic and scripture readings, the Nicene Creed, and the Lord's Prayer. Then a great lecture followed by good questions and discussion, good fellowship, and just possibly a few good smoke rings.
We hope you can join us at The Hall this week to learn about John Calvin.
