The Hall of Men will gather on Thursday, June 14 in the year of our Lord 2018.
Josh Black, Lead Pastor for First Evangelical Free Church, will present Richard Baxter, a 17th century English Puritan, poet, theologian, and hymnodist. This is a perfect, but unplanned, fit as a lead up to our inaugural Florovsky Week on "The Patristic Doctrine of Salvation: Justification by Faith Alone?" (July10-14; click here to register - early rate ends June 16). For, as Wikipedia puts it, "His views on justification and sanctification are somewhat controversial within the Calvinist tradition because his teachings seem, to some, to undermine salvation by faith, in that he emphasizes the necessity of repentance and faithfulness." Come join the beginning of a conversation on justification!
As usual, doors will open at The Ladder at 7 pm and food will be served around 7:30 pm. At 8:30 pm we'll prepare for the lecture with the Eighth Day Convocation: hymn, patristic and scripture readings, the Nicene Creed, and the Lord's Prayer. Then a great lecture followed by good questions, discussion, and fellowship.
We hope you can join us at The Hall.
