Feast of St Theophilus the Confessor
WE'RE THRILLED to announce the fourth annual Inklings Oktoberfest!
Like last year, it will be held in conjunction with the anniversary of Eighth Day Books - the thirtieth! - on Oct 19-21. But unlike any previous year, we're moving the festival to Sunday afternoon and early evening. We hope you will bring your whole family and your friends and/or neighbors. This is a great opportunity to introduce folks to the bookstore and to the work of Eighth Day Institute.
We're also delighted to announce the annual Inklings Lecture being presented by Ralph Wood on "G. K. Chesterton as Father of the Inklings" on Saturday evening, Oct 20, 6:30 pm at Journey the Way Church), followed by book signings and the anniversary celebration at Eighth Day Books.
We're also blessed to have Richard Rohlin join us from Texas to present two seminars on the Inklings:
- Sunday, 2:30 pm: "Can the Singer Enter the Tale? Sub-creation, Suffering, and Sacrament in Tolkien's Legendarium"
- Sunday, 5:30 pm: "Not a Bowl but a Book: C. S. Lewis and the Sacrament of Story"
And as usual, there will be live local music, seminars on local craftsmanship, English-style dinner, local microbrews, kids activities, and prizes for a cartography contest (be sure to have your kiddos draw Narnia, Middle-earth or any other Inkling geography and bring the map to the festival!).
And be sure to register before Oct 13 for the discounted early rate.
