Ralph Wood: EDI's Indispensable Ecumenical Work (plus a chronology of peddling Eighth Day books and culture)

Feast of the Procession of the Precious Cross and of the Holy Seven Maccabee Children, Solomone Their Mother, and Eleazar Their Teacher

Wood__Ralph.jpg“THE WORK of Eighth Day Institute is uncompromisingly ecumenical. Roman Catholics and Protestants join Orthodox to discover and explore the deep things they hold common as Christians. This splendid community constitutes a vital alternative to the stale denominationalism that characterizes much of contemporary church life, as well as the flaccid secularism of the culture at large. The work of Eighth Day Institute is indispensable.

That’s one of several endorsements included in our new brochure. Ralph Wood is right. Our work is uncompromisingly ecumenical. And we think he is right about it being indispensable. In fact, we think it is increasingly so each and every day in a culture that is outright anti-Christian. Our culture desperately needs renewed.

But our indispensable work depends upon you. That’s why we are launching the online portion of our summer fundraising campaign on this first day of August in the year of our Lord 2017.

We have a matching donation of $5,000 to promote new Monthly Eighth Day Memberships, especially Eighth Day Patrons. Our goal over the next two weeks is to recruit 25 new monthly Patrons, for total donations of $5,000 through the end of the year ($40 x 25 Patrons = $1,000 x 5 months = $5,000) and 15 other new monthly Members at any other level.

Please consider joining our community of Eighth Day Members today!

If you are already a member, consider upgrading your membership (contact me) or making a one-time donation.

And if your membership has expired, please take a few moments to renew it today (I'll be contacting you over the next two weeks if you're in this camp)!

Please share this email with your friends and encourage them to join our community!

Thank you for your attention and consideration!

Renewing culture through faith and learning in Christ,

Director Doom

P.S. Our summer campaign will conclude with a new annual St. John of Damascus Award Toast and Roast Banquet honoring Warren Farha on August 26. You can learn more about that by CLICKING HERE.

P.S.S. In an Eighth Day News post last week, while peddling Eighth Day books and culture at the Circe Conference in Austin, TX, I promised to share a record of that trip to give you an inside glimpse into the work involved on those sorts of trips. CLICK HERE to see that record.
