I am pleased and honored to announce the unanimous winner of our inaugural St. John of Damascus Award.
As THE exemplary model of our mission of renewing culture through faith and learning, WARREN FARHA will be the recipient of the 2017 St. John of Damascus Award.
Warren, whose patron saint happens to be St John of Damascus, will be honored with toasts and roasts on the evening of August 26 in Wichita, KS, at St George Orthodox Christian Cathedral.
Warren's been renewing culture for almost three decades by putting great books into the hands of people all over the world. He has promoted the love of all things good, true, and beautiful through his careful selection of excellent books. Anybody who has visited the bookstore - or better put, experienced the bookstore - can attest to the care and thoughtfulness put into the inventory he stocks in his old three-story, victorian-style house.
Personally, I am privileged to not only have Warren as my godfather, but to have worked with him in one way, shape, or form for over twenty years now. And I'm blessed to have him as one of my very best friends. I am grateful for his friendship, his counsel (which I seek from him frequently), and his commitment to the One who is Truth. He has shaped me in so many ways that I could never adequately express my gratitude. This new banquet, then, offers me an opportunity to attempt to give him the recognition he deserves for the many years and long hours he has put into developing Eighth Day Books into one of the best bookstores on the planet.
I look forward to having you join me in honoring him!
And we can all look forward to hearing from him. He'll give a short talk about his work of building Eighth Day Books.
Please put August 26 on your calendars and GET YOUR TICKETS by 5 pm on Friday Aug 25 at this link (the evening schedule is also included here). We do anticipate the seats to sell out so get your tickets today!
