Christian News-letter
Our annual publication of essays, poetry, stories, reviews, and updates on the work and events of the Eighth Day Institute. Within, you'll find timely and timeless writing to come back to again and again, from the Fathers of the Church, the great thinkers of the last centuries, and our neighbors today.
The theme of the first volume is "Oikophilia", love of home.
Synaxis
Synaxis was originally published back in 2012. Since then, it has changed significantly, evolving from an annual journal for book groups, to an annual newsletter, then to an annual program for the Eighth Day Symposium that included the newsletter, and now finally coming into its own as a biannual journal for our two national conferences: Eighth Day Symposium and Florovsky-Newman Week .
The next volume of Synaxis (the Symposium issue) was released in June at the 2019 Florovsky-Newman Week on Church Authority ("The Patristic View of Church Authority: Bible, Pope, or Conciliarity"). Back to its original mission to be used by reading groups, it will provide reading material for book groups and college courses to prepare for the 2020 Symposium on Holiness ("'For I Am Holy': The Command to Be Like God"). Then, at the 2020 Symposium in January, we'll release the Florovsky-Newman issue so you can begin reading and preparing for the 2020 Florovsky Week on Baptism ("The Patristic View of Baptism: Public Profession or Salvific Sacrament?").
