SYNAXISa periodical gathering of literature & book reviews

Synaxis_Subscription.jpgMotivated by our love of books, this annual journal is intended to look, feel, and function like a book. The first volume is thus dedicated to the physical book. The second volume, due out in 2016, will focus on poetry. Volume one is available for $15 or you can subscribe to receive volumes one and two for $26. Better yet, become an Eighth Day Member at practically any level and automatically receive a subscription. For a review of Synaxis and to see the Table of Contents, Click Here.

MICRO-SYNAXIS: a small gathering of a newsletter

MicroSynaxis_2_-_cover.jpgA miniature version of Synaxis, Microsynaxis looks and feels like a journal or catalog but functions as our newsletter. Following a form similar to Synaxis, it contains short readings from the likes of St Maximus the Confessor, Scott Cairns, Romano Guardini, Warren Farha et al. It also offers transcribed samples from or reflections on our work from the previous year. A one-year subscription is $10, a two-year subscription for volumes 1 and 2 is $15, or auto-subscribe by becoming an Eighth Day Member at any level. To see the Table of Contents, Click Here.

A WORD FROM THE FATHERS short texts from early christian fathers

2.2_Dormition_2014_cover.jpgOur newest publication includes short homilies, treatises, and hymns penned by the holy fathers of the undivided Church. We believe the early Christian Fathers are foundational both to the renewal of our culture and to the pursuit of an undivided Church. Our first publication was a Commentary on an Eastern Hymn of St. Gregory Nazianzen by St. Dorotheos of Gaza (I.1). The second volume for 2014 includes The Sayings of the St. Anthony the Desert Father (II.1), A Homily on the Holy Virgin Theotokos by St Proclus of Constantinople (II.2), and a passage from St Athanasius’ On the Incarnation (II.3). This year we are making this a quarterly publication. The first issue of our third volume for 2015 is Small and Great Vespers for the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our next issue will be a section from The Letter of the Romans to the Corinthians by St Clement of Rome (III.2). Each issue is $5. All Eighth Day Members will automatically receive these treasures. The Shop is currently under construction but merchandise will be available in the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your patience!

EIGHTH DAY SYMPOSIUM  the printed version of a mere christian gathering

Symposium14_cover.pngWe have some catching up to do, but we plan to publish all of the lectures from our annual symposium in this new endeavor. We are beginning with our fourth symposium from 2014 on “Constantine, Christendom & Cultural Renewal.” We intend to have both the third symposium from 2013 - “Dostoevsky: The Divine and the Demonic” - and our most recent fifth symposium from this year - “Whatever Happened to Wonder? The Recovery of Mystery in a Secular Age” - available at our sixth annual symposium in 2016 (Soil and Sacrament: The World as Gift). We have proofs for our first issue in hand and copies will be available to the public in April. The table of contents is available on the order page. You can pre-order this issue for $20 or automatically receive each year’s publication by becoming an Eighth Day Member at the Patron level. The Shop is currently under construction but merchandise will be available in the next couple of weeks.
